More Baseball

Clearly I love the sport.

I just finished The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach and I am DEVASTATED it is over. I wouldn't call it 100% a baseball novel, but the game is definitely central to the plot.

I want to read it all over again as if  I had never read it at all. Kind of how I feel about the now finished NBC show Friday Night Lights. I want to stay immersed in the wonderful plot and learn more about the characters.

Sigh.

Do you have a book you wish would have never ended?

Review to come folks. This book was just too good not to subject you all share my thoughts.

It's Baseball Season!

Finally, Ryan Braun, I mean- Brewers season!

I love sports. Playing them, watching (most of) them, you name it. I draw the line at watching golf on tv, yikes. My most favorite of all sports started its 2010 season yesterday...baseball! My heart will always belong to the Milwaukee Brewers, and I would have loved to be sitting in a seat at the sold out Miller Park yesterday. There's nothing better than tailgating with friends and enjoying a Miller Light in Miller Park!

Funny enough, one day into the season and there are already rumored negotiations over free agents starting in 2011, particularly Prince Fielder. I totally understand the MLB is a business, but I really don't want to see another one of our stud players go to the Yankees (ahem C.C. Sabathia). Nevermind that the Brewers payroll is a mere $80 million compared to the Yankees $200. Or that A-Rod makes $33 million a year while the entire Pirates' roster makes $35 million combined. Clearly this turned into a mini-rant, but such is the life of a baseball junkie. Have to pick my battles, and I'd much rather focus on the game. Although don't get me started about luxury taxes!

Sometimes, I'm Just Plain Boring

...At least that's how I feel at the moment.

Not to say there aren't exciting things in the future, I just feel like I'm on deck at the moment. Currently: working on securing an internship for this summer, about to (seriously) think about my graduate research, finalizing logistics for the PNWAA, plan a trip to Crater Lake, spend a weekend at the Coast and move into a sweet new house, to name a few.

I'm really trying to think of some fun, random topics to blog about! Reasonable suggestions are always welcome. Stay tuned!

As a complete side-note, apparently my subconscious is channeling my baseball gene with the above analogy; opening day in T-4 days (for my Brewers anyway)! It's Ryan Braun season, finally!
